Where Should I Get my TEFL Certification in Prague?

Are there any alumni of Prague language schools out there? Would you like to tell me please your recommendation of a great place in Prague to get my TEFL certification? Comparing language schools online can only go so far, sooner or later I need to hear a real human's recommendation.

I'm interested in teaching adults primarily -- Business English. I'm especially interested in hearing if anyone has used their TEFL certification at a particular school toward a Masters in Education back home in the States. Were you able to have it accepted as graduate credit? I'm leaving that option open if I enjoy the work as much as I think I will.

Tell me why your school was great and why.

I got my TEFL at ITC International, which is based in Prague but I took the course in Madrid. The TEFL itself is an invaluable asset to have, especially in Asia. However, I've heard that the TEFL programs are all pretty much identical and you'll learn way more once you get out there and start teaching. So don't worry about WHERE you take the TEFL, the main thing is just to take it. You'll end up in the program that's right for you in the end anyway. I think what I enjoyed most was the networking with other expats and teachers it provided. I remained close to most of the other teachers in my TEFL course and it was really nice to have that support. I taught in Spain, Slovenia, France and now in Thailand since then. It's the best way to travel around the world and I've really enjoyed it.

As for getting a Masters degree most of the other teachers I took the TEFL with went back to the states to pursue one after teaching for a year. I think it does help towards coursework. As for me, once I realised the wonders of the European way of life, I have no desire to return to the states.

Hi Karen,
Thanks for the added info to my last post...I didn't find it till today! Anyway, you asked where I'm originally from...well...I was born in Minnesota, we moved to Oklahoma when I was 10--where I married and had my kids and divorced, then I lived in Texas--on the Gulf--for about 3 years, then moved to up near Taos, NM for almost 4 years before I moved here!

Now I bet you're sorry you asked!! :0)

How about you? Where all have you lived?

Hi Karen,
We have so much in common! You've moved around alot like me...and we've lived in some of the same places...or areas...I couldn't believe when you said you had lived in TX...where did you live there? And Iowa...close to MN!!! I lived near Corpus Christi when I was living in TX. Its nice there, but so hot and humid! Prague is also hot and humid in summer time, but not quite so hot and humid as Corpus...more like where I grew up in Minneapolis!
